Lima Tourist Bus: 24h Adult Foreigner Pass
1 Panoramic Route · 7 Stops · Miraflores & Historic Center · Bilingual Guides · WiFi
Descend into a world few dare to visit twice: a maze of stone tunnels and crypts, Lima's first cemetery from the viceroyalty.
A real chill, not staged
Walk among the ossuaries of more than 25,000 people laid to rest here before any modern cemetery existed in Lima.
The convent few explore
Above the catacombs, a cloister with Sevillian paintings and one of South America's most valuable colonial libraries.
Guided by someone who knows the story
A guide walks you through, narrating the history behind every crypt and tunnel.
Live it without distractions
No photos or videos are allowed inside the catacombs — this is an experience to live, not record.
One of the most striking experiences in the Historic Center. Spots per group are limited — reserve yours.
Ancient colonial cemetery displaying deep ossuaries with thousands of real human bones and skulls.
Cloister walls covered in 1620 with over 4,000 blue tiles from Seville depicting the life of Saint Francis.
1625 Mudejar cedar dome over the staircase. An intricate geometric puzzle assembled without nails.
Historic hall holding 25,000 ancient books and incunabula, framed by massive dark wooden bookcases.
Monumental painting adaptation with Andean elements, showing a served guinea pig, chilies, and local fruits
You'll descend into 17th-century underground crypts where the remains of over 25,000 people are arranged in circular and symmetric patterns. You'll also visit the colossal baroque library, Sevillian-tiled cloisters, and a collection of Flemish and Spanish colonial religious art.
The catacombs may feel uncomfortable for people with severe claustrophobia as the spaces are narrow and dimly lit. For children under 8, we recommend evaluating whether the experience is appropriate. Alternative exits are available throughout the route.
Access to the catacombs is exclusively with a guided tour for safety and heritage preservation reasons. Bilingual guides (Spanish and English) explain the history of each space in detail — and it's a far richer experience with the narration included.
The complete guided tour — including the catacombs, church, cloisters, library, and art gallery — lasts between 45 and 60 minutes. Arriving a little early gives you time for photos in the cloisters before or after the tour.
Personal flash-free photography is permitted in most spaces. Inside the catacombs, special respect is requested as it is a place of eternal rest. Tripods and commercial photography require prior authorization.
Get off at the Historic Center stop and walk 3 minutes to Plaza San Francisco. The convent's baroque facade is one of Lima's most recognizable, just minutes from Plaza Mayor — easy to combine with other Historic Center visits.
